‘sed’ to the rescue.

In my work – I often have to parse huge log-files and alike. So, what if you want to extract maybe some part of this huge file into something … lets call it – manageable. Well, the good old SED is perfect for this.

sed -n -e 9990,10000p somelogfilename

This simple sentence extract the lines beginning from line 9990 to 10000 – NIFTY.
